Sony Ericsson has unveiled two new radio-listening handsets targeted particularly at emerging markets such as India.
The R300 Radio and R306 Radio feature AM and FM frequencies and offer dedicated speakers and preset channel buttons. Both are designed to have a radio look-and-feel. They can sit on their sides and played through a dedicated stereo loudspeaker, set as alarm clock and used to record a clip of a song for use as a ringtone. The latter may prove a controversial function, as emerging markets are the only ones showing any growing interest in commercial ringtones.
Both phones also feature Sony Ericsson's TrackID music identifying software, which lets users find out the details of songs they hear while out and about.
They will be available in selected markets from Q2 2008.
Sony Ericsson also announced two new slim mass market devices, the T270 and T280, available in selected markets from the first quarter 2008.
