Users of the microblogging service can once again receive tweets via their phones.
Twitter has struck a deal with Vodafone to allow the network's subscribers to receive SMS notifications to their handsets.
The microblogging service last year withdrew the free functionality in the UK due to the high costs it was incurring from operators.
Twitterers will initially be able to tweet to Twitter for free, but over time this will be migrated to existing SMS bundles. Receiving Tweets will remain free of charge.
There's no news yet on whether other UK operator deals are forthcoming, but you can expect that work is underway.
Commenting on the deal IDC analyst Jonathan Arber said: "This is an indicator of how rapidly Twitter has grown in the UK, and of Vodafone's desire to attach itself to the "next big thing" in social networking.

"However, this may only be a temporary differentiator given that Twitter is currently flavour of the month, and as such we would expect the other operators to rapidly try and follow suit."
Yesterday it was reported that Twitter is considering value added premium accounts for business as a means of monetizing its service.
