Vampires take a bite out of record previously held by bespectacled boy wizard Harry Potter.
Film bookings and info site Fandango says 22 per cent of all bookings for newly released movie The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 were made via mobile device, according to paidContent.
The vampire romance adored by millions of teens and grown women saw the film knock Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 from the top spot. The Potter movie received 20 per cent of ticket sales via mobile.
Fandango now processes 40 per cent of all traffic via mobile devices and it seems plausible this is supported by the apps available for both smartphones and tablets.
In addition to the film information and bookings service, it also provides users the chance to have tickets scanned on their mobile devices to allow entry at a number of cinemas too.
Just earlier this month we revealed UK m-ticketing developer Masabi had secured $4 million to drive the platform, which it has so far focused on travel apps allowing users to have their phones scanned in place of a material ticket.
