2m active users and big data boost.
Turkish mobile operator Turkcell has released impressive stats on the takeup of 3G since its launch in July this year.
The company says that more than four million people have "transitioned to 3G" since July in Turkey, although it says only two million of those have become "active 3G users".
However, Turkcell says more than one million of its subscribers have used its video service, while 72% of the operator's total data traffic is taking place within its 3G network.
Meanwhile, the operator has sold around 200,000 3G modems and netbooks since July, with 78% of those customers saying they are using Turkcell 3G for their broadband Internet - i.e. instead of fixed-line.
"Turkcell 3G, with its speed and mobility, has introduced Turkish customers to the Internet and helped them get easier, and thus more frequent, access to the Internet," says CEO Sureyya Ciliv.
