Peter Pham departs the much-discussed $41 million startup.
Color is a the photo-sharing app that launched earlier this year with a phenomenal amount of investment cash, and prompted huge derision for being not very good.
The firm was started by Bill Nguyen, who sold his cloud music business Lala for $80m to Apple. Its app lets people in close proximity capture and share photos, videos and text in real time.
But its launch was greeted with derision by the tech press, and now the firm is clearly under pressure to re-organise.
Its statement said: "We wish (Peter) the absolute best. From time to time Bill shuffles his team, he has a history of it.”
Separately, Color seems to have withdrawn is Android app from Android Market, promising a new version soon.
