Trinity Mirror has begun developing a mobile web platform for 14 of its national and regional newspaper titles.
The platform - developed in partnership with Nokia and Bluestar Mobile - will initially support sites for 12 regional newspapers and two national newspapers, with Daily Mirror and Daily Record first to go live. The regional titles lined up are the Evening Chronicle and Journal in Newcastle, the Teesside Evening Gazette, the Daily Post and Echo in Liverpool, the Huddersfield Examiner, the Daily Post Wales, the Western Mail, the South Wales Echo, the Mail and the Post in Birmingham and the Coventry Telegraph.
The first of the sites are due to be launched in the autumn.
Rick Gleave, head of Trinity Mirror interactive and mobile, said: “The development of these platforms will give users instant access to national and local news, information and advertising on their mobile phone. Each of these brands will have a print title, a companion website and a mobile site, which is further proof that we are a growing multiplatform media business.”
