Excite X10 is 0.3-inches thin and weighs just 1.2lbs.
Toshiba revealed its latest creation yesterday evening at the CES event in Las Vegas and claims the device offers the best size combination.
Its clear the stature of the Excite device will be used as the selling point in order to take on the likes of the best-selling iPad 2, which is described as 'thin, light and fully loaded' on the Apple website.
That said, while the iPad has a 0.34-inch thickness and a weight of 1.33lb weight, that still makes it bulkier than the Excite.
Toshiba's device is made up of magnesium casing, gorilla glass display and comes equipped with HDMI, USB, SD and audio slots.
Other features include a 2MP front-facing camera, while the 5MP rear camera comes with a flash.

The Japanese firm plans to release the Android-powered device later this quarter, with the Ice Cream Sandwich version of the OS.
The 16GB version will retail at $530 making it even dearer than the $499 iPad 2, which is a surprising move. The current market trend has seen companies like Amazon and Barnes & Noble create low cost devices for around $200 to cater for consumers with a lesser income.
