Six years after founding the mobile games distributor, and one year after selling it to Zed, Tony Pearce is leaving Player X to 'explore new opportunities outside of the company.'

He said: “It’s been an honour to work with such a great team of people but now Player X is fully integrated with Zed it’s time for me to move on”.

No news on what he's doing next, although our sources suggest it will be in mobile.

It's unthinkable that Pearce would go into another market sector. Despite his reputation as something of a hard-partying hellraiser, Pearce is very well-thought of and has a contacts book to rival anyone in the business.

Under his tenure, Player X became one of Europe’s biggest mobile games distributors, and even diversified into video and quality assurance.

Although the firm's stronghold in the operator portal space was undermined by the rise of app stores, its relationships made it a target for companies with ambitions in the B2O space. Like Zed.
