Not much left of Thumbplay after selling music streaming biz to Clear Channel earlier this month.
PaidContent has revealed that the US D2C specialist sold its ringtone, games and personalisation operation to erstwhile rival for an undisclosed sum.
It says a spokesperson for SendMe Mobile confirmed the acquisition, saying that integration efforts are already underway.
The move would appear to signal an inevitable consolidation in the 'old school' D2C ringtone business in an era dominated by the smartphone/app store axis.
However, firms like SendMe remain confident there's plenty of business in feature phones, chat, text services and so on.
Backers for the San Francisco-based SendMe include True Ventures, Spark Capital, Grandbanks Capital, Triangle Peak Partners and Amicus Capital, as well as angel investors including Scott Kurnit, founder of About.com.

The company sells content via several sub brands, including MBuzzy, Solow and WT411.
