Are Traasdahl launches Tapad, a 'real-time ad platform for iPhones, iPads, Androids, and smartTVs'.
In the same week that seemed to mark the end of Thumbplay, after its streaming music operation was sold to Clear Channel Radio, its founder has decided to reveal his new start-up.
Norwegian Traasdahl turned US-based Thumbplay into one of the giants of the US D2C market, before the space was hobbled by litigation and technological changes. The firm turned over almost $100 million in revenue in three years.
After selling most of his shares and taking a sabbatical Traasdahl is now back with this new ad-based start-up.
He claims "the sophistication present in online ad technology around audience targeting and real-time bidding of individual impressions is still missing in mobile advertising. We are going to change that."
