UK tabloid hits the App Store, complete with an iEdition for breaking news.
The Sun has followed its News Corp stablemate The Times onto Apple's iPad, with an official application.
It offers an interactive version of the daily tabloid, as well as an 'iEdition' section for breaking news. That's a nice feature, since many newspapers' iPad apps simply offer the daily edition, which is out of date by the afternoon.
The app lets readers download The Sun six days a week - Monday to Saturday - but doesn't include its sister paper the News of the World on Sundays. Perhaps that publication has an app coming too separately.
The iPad app does include The Sun's various supplements, including its Sun TV Mag, Super Goals and racing guide The Favourite.
The app costs £4.99, which includes a 28-day subscription before users have to renew - presumably for £4.99 every 28 days. That's cheaper than The Times, which costs £9.99 every 28 days.

The paper's App Store blurb hints at more features to come - "Version 1.0 of The Sun for iPad does not yet include interactive puzzles or crossword" - but it's looking like a pretty slick app.
UPDATE: One thing that is included is Page 3, despite Apple's strict policies on topless content in the App Store. Judging by today's iPad issue, the page will not be censored in any way.
