The phone that can lip read

German boffins develop tech that converts face movements into speech.

The technology is based on electromyography, which records electrical signals generated by muscle activity and converts it into speech that is relayed to the caller on the other end of the line.

In theory, this makes it possible to talk silently in the theatre without disturbing those idiots who actually want to watch the play.

It could also be used to transmit confidential information.

Most of all, it would look really stupid.
