App inspired by the film that's inspired by the book.
Momentum Pictures has worked with UK firms Small Screen Productions and FinBlade to make an iPhone app based on new movie The Men Who Stare At Goats (App Store link).
The app takes the title literally - it's a virtual party trick that involves staring at goats on-screen to make them fall over.
However, the film trailer and a bunch of stills are also bundled in, along with the first chapter of Jon Ronson's book, on which the film is based. There's also a direct feed from Ronson's Twitter.
Although the free app is getting mixed reviews on the App Store, with 815 ratings so far it seems to have been a popular download.
It's also a sign of continued lateral thinking from studio when launching promotional apps. Once upon a time, the trailer and stills might have been the main features, but on iPhone, branded apps are looking for more playful content.
