Row breaks out between CS Lewis estate and owners of the Narnia.mobi internet domain.

The estate of Chronicles of Narnia author CS Lewis has accused a Scottish family who snapped up the Narnia.mobi domain two years ago of cyber squatting.

Richard Saville-Smith of Edinburgh snapped up the domain for £70 in 2006 as a birthday present to his Narnia-mad son. The purchase was made during a so-called sunrise period in which brands can get first dibs on web addresses that use their trademarks.

However, it seems CS Lewis Ltd was a bit slow on the uptake and now its lawyers have sent Saville-Smith a 128 page dossier asking him to either give up the domain or face a hearing at the World Intellectual Property Association (WIPO).

Saville-Smith said there was no financial motive behind his purchase: "We were amazed the domain was still free and snapped it up," he added.

The domain has been suspended while the case is being prepared.
