UK newspaper to offer optimised content via new portal.
Independent News and Media has partnered with YOC's Bluestar Mobile to create the site. with the latter responsible for its design, build and day-to-day management.
The newspaper says it already has 240,000 people accessing its full site from mobile browsers, but its new destination optimised for handsets.
Bluestar is making something of a name for itself in the world of newspaper publishing, having already launched mobile sites for The Sun, The Times, The News of the World, The Mirror and The Guardian.
Christian Louca, UK Country Manager & Head of Publishers at YOC Group, said: “The Independent’s move into the mobile domain clearly demonstrates how the medium is moving into the mainstream as a publishing tool; sitting alongside traditional media outlets as a successful and cost effective method of reaching the consumer."
