UK newspaper opts for a £1.79 price point on App Store, say reports
New Media Age reports that The Guardian will charge for its iPhone app when it's released in a couple of weeks.
It's an interesting move from publisher Guardian News & Media, which has carried out a quite public assessment of the pros and cons of charging for digital content.
The 'paid or free' debate continues to rage across the world of news publishing, which is seeking to bolster revenue streams beyond display ad inventory, with News Corp in particular pushing the paid content model.
In terms of iPhone apps, however, most UK news outlets (print and TV, including News Corp-owned Sky News) have to date made their content available for free.
