Swedish-developed service makes video its USP.
Swedish firm Fabrication Games has launched The Game Trail, a new iPhone app that helps people discover new iPhone games on the device itself.
The key feature: video. The app ranks games according to their review scores from independent sites and The Game Trail users, but includes video trailers and reviews for each title.
Users can tap through to buy games from the App Store, while also browsing new, featured, Top 250 and genre lists to find new games.
"The App Store has created a tremendous opportunity to expand mobile gaming and empower developers, but the sheer amount of content available has become an impediment to discovery," says Fabrication boss Tommy Palm.
"We know that gamers rely on video trailers and unbiased reviews for their purchasing decisions and we have created The Game Trail to be a guide to the best games the iPhone has to offer."

The app is free to download (App Store link), while The Game Trail is also accessible online and on Facebook.
The nearest equivalent would be Mplayit Arcade on Facebook, which makes a similar virtue of video demos. However, it has yet to launch an iPhone app spin-off.
