Oceanhouse Media brings Dr. Seuss classics to the App Store
Three new iPhone apps based on the books of Dr. Seuss have launched on the App Store, courtesy of Oceanhouse Media.
The company has launched interactive e-book versions of The Cat in the Hat and Dr. Seuss's ABC, as well as a photo-card maker app called Dr. Seuss Camera - The Cat in the Hat Edition.
The e-books include professional narrations, custom background audio and highlighted picture and word associations.
Meanwhile, the photo app lets people take photos and then superimpose their faces onto the titular cat, Thing 1 and Thing 2, or the children from the book.
The images can then be personalised with stamps, borders and text, before being emailed to friends.
"Dr. Seuss created The Cat in the Hat and Dr. Seuss’s ABC to improve literacy in elementary schools, and now Oceanhouse Media continues this tradition by developing innovative features only possible in interactive e-books that both parents and children will love," says Susan Brandt, president of Dr. Seuss Enterprises.
Oceanhouse is working on iPad versions of the apps too, as well as Oceanhouse's other applications.
"We believe that the iPad will be a revolutionary device for children’s literature and learning," says the company's president Michel Kripalani.
