Thai operator AIS has launched ROK Entertainment's 2.5G mobile TV platform, with a target of one million users in 12 months.
The subscription-based service starts at 50 baht ($1.25) a month and offers up to 20 channels, of which three are free, including a live stream of Fox News as well as music, sport and entertainment channels in both English and Thai.AIS ROK TV will be marketed by AIS to it's 16 million customer base through national press advertising and online promotions. AIS aims to generate one million subscribers to the service within 12 months.
ROK CEO of Jonathan Kendrick said: "This is a milestone deal in our deployment of high quality 2.5G mobile TV services worldwide and we're delighted to be partnering with AIS on the first mobile TV service ever launched in Thailand."
Last month ROK unveiled its made-for-mobile Monkey Sports News, which is available on both ROK TV and its sister IPTV FreeBe TV service, updated at 15 minute intervals. The original Monkey News Network launched last year.
