Operator-branded service finding success.
Mobile location firm Telmap has announced that its iPhone application has been downloaded more than 100,000 times.
The app isn't offered as a D2C service. Instead, it's a white-label app that can be branded by Telmap's operator partners, to be offered via the App Store.
It includes mapping, navigation and search features.
"The 100,000 downloads mark is an important one, proving that operators can and do leverage their very important assets of trusted, long term billing relationships, strong brand and marketing power, significant point of sale presence, and excellent customer care to continue and be the most important partner for their end-user’s mobile and digital lifestyle," says Telmap CEO Oren Nissim, in what's quite possibly the longest sentence you'll see on ME this week.
"Therefore, Telmap will continue to partner with operators on delivering location-enabled mobile interactions to their subscribers."

Like its rivals, Telmap is facing shifting sands in the navigation market - its iPhone app may have been downloaded 100,000 times, but Nokia's Ovi Maps, which is free, has racked up more than three million downloads.
