The project has been developed with NAVTEQ, with the aim of giving operators a chance to increase customer loyalty and reduce churn.
Those that commit will benefit from a heavily discounted rate from Telmap for the basic LBS features – making it viable to include it free to consumers with GPS-enabled handsets.
So where's the money?
Telmap says operators can create premium services such as traffic information, speed cameras, micro payments, fuel prices and city guides.
There's also the advertising option, with special offers, coupons and vouchers linked to outlets nearby – and one click route to the retailer thanks to the Telmap Mobile Location Companion.
