Broadcasters may be losing interest, but there's mobile life in the old yet
Teletext Mobile says its free iPhone apps have been downloaded 300,000 in their first six weeks of availability.
The company, a subsidiary of AND (the digital consumer division of A&N Media - part of DMGT), has so far published apps for Jobsite, Teletext Holidays, FindaProperty, localpeople, Motors.co.uk and two Daily Mail puzzle apps.
The Jobsite app was launched at the beginning of January and has been downloaded 35,000 times and is averaging 4,500 downloads per week.
Meanwhile, the Teletext Holidays app (also launched in January) has been ranked 14th in Travel with almost 11,000 downloads.
It's part of the firm's ongoing expansion into digital media, following the gradual closure of its legacy text-based analogue and digital TV information services in the UK.

Teletext Mobile acts as publisher of the apps, and provides product development, marketing, PR and commercial skills to support the AND businesses.
Most of the initial apps were developed and funded by the individual AND businesses, but in some cases Teletext Mobile also provides capital.
Teletext says that its strategy will soon begin exploring a variety of app types and business models, particularly those developed by third parties with subscriptions or in-app payments.
