Telcogames buys Fathammer

Rising UK games specialist Telcogames has boosted its strength in high-end mobile gaming by acquiring Finnish developer Fathammer for an undisclosed sum.

The deal adds 24 new 3D titles, many of which have not yet been released, to the Telcogames roster. The UK company will begin distributing them to its worldwide customer base of operators and portals immediately. Fathammer will continue to develop games for third parties such as Disney and Eidos, but as a wholly owned subsidiary of Telcogames.

Fathammer is a good fit for Telcogames. Although the latter has established itself in three years as a leading off-portal games distributor and a supplier to many operator decks, it has recently become recognised as a specialist in publishing advanced 'native' games. Last year it acquired the French developer Magic Productions with this in mind.

The typical Fathammer game is certainly aimed at 'advanced' mobile gamers: it's between 1Mb and 5Mb in capacity - that's around 20 times the industry average. The deal also gives Telcogames a stronger presence in Finland and South Korea, where Fathammer has good links.

Jamie Conyngham, CEO of Telcogames, said: Combined with the Magic acquisition, this deal makes Telcogames a leader in native and advanced mobile games."
