Cult newspaper cartoon star Alex first to be given the treatment.
Tapisodes blend comics, animation and tap interaction in what the eponymous firm behind the tech say is a first product of its kind.
The first 20 Alex strips, each themed around the financial market crisis, are delivered daily straight into the ALEX app. The app also comes with social networking integration.
These tapisodes were created in association with games developer Tag Games. The aim is to make Alex just the first of many projects, and the producers say they've been have been working with other high profile brands and franchises to create new content.
