Tapulous' latest music game rockets up the App Store chart.

Disney-owned iPhone music games developer Tapulous has released Tap Tap Revenge 4, and seen it storm to the top of the App Store chart.

Founder Bart Decrem - now SVP and general manager at Disney Mobile - tells TechCrunch the game is being downloaded around 25,000 times an hour currently.

As with previous games in the TTR series, TTR4 is a freemium title: it's free to download and play, but players can buy additional songs from Tapulous' in-game store.

More than 100 tracks are available for free, including songs from Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance and Benny Benassi.

The game itself has been spruced up, with more social features, Game Center support and a new Arcade mode.

Tapulous says that the TTR series has so far notched up 50 million downloads across all its versions, although the App Store listing for TTR4 talks about '15 million members of the Tap Tap community' - a more accurate measure of active users.
