Tag Games launches new apps business unit

Capitalising on success of its Come Dine With Me app for Channel 4.

UK mobile games firm Tag Games has launched a dedicated business unit focused on non-game apps.

The news comes as the Come Dine With Me app it made for Channel 4 is riding high in the UK App Store chart.

Tag has previously made apps for companies like Virgin Atlantic and Breakthru Films, alongside its more traditional game releases.

"We are using our skills in 3D environments, connected experiences, user retention and complex game mechanics to bring a game developer’s playful approach to non-gaming content," says MD Paul Farley.

"We are finding that many digital agencies have in-house or long standing external development suppliers which are usually excellent in flash and simple app development; however they aren’t as well placed to deal with 3D content and more complex application development."

Farley says that Tag will be announcing more development and licensing deals for its new unit in the coming months.
