T-Mobile USA closes developer programme

Operator says decision reflects its commitment to a growing ecosystem of partner storefronts

T-Mobile USA has taken the somewhat surprising decision to close its Partner Network content developer support programme.

Moconews has details of an email sent to developers, explaining that the operator was refocussing its attention on partner app stores, such as Android Market, Windows Marketplace and BlackBerry App World.

As the article points out, T-Mobile's decision to close its two-year old programme could be a sign of things to come - after all, there are only so many initiatives that developers can partner with and operators could find themselves second fiddle to the big app stores.

T-Mobile USA will continue to operate the Partner Network website and resources, but is no longer taking content submissions.
