T-Mobile UK takes on the Joggler with Vega Android tablet

Your next kitchen accessory?

T-Mobile UK has secured an exclusive on Innovative Converged Devices' (ICD) Vega Android tablet, and will begin selling it later this year.

The device was unveiled at the CES show last week. It has a 15-inch touchscreen, and is designed to be used in the kitchen by families - you could call it a competitor to O2's Joggler.

Key features include a 'household calendar' accessible via the tablet, or from other computers and mobile handsets. However, web browsing, TV, social networking, an FM radio and games are all on board.

ICD says it's been working on the device with T-Mobile for 18 months. It runs Google's Android OS, and has an Nvidia Tegra 250 processor inside.

"We spoke to over 1,000 families who told us they often found it a hassle to organise a busy family life without nagging or forgotten appointments," says T-Mobile's Richard Warmsley.
