Synchronica bags $1.5m Chinese contract

Closes deal to pre-load next-gen messaging services on MediaTek powered handsets.

Synchronica's speciality is white-labelling social media, IM and messaging services particularly for operators and OEMs in emerging markets.

Its Media Gateway platform offers a set of technical and commercial resources that enable device manufacturers using MediaTek chips to integrate push email, IM and social networking onto their low-cost handsets.

It's making some decent headway with these Mobile Gateway-powered offerings, having done a deal with an unnamed Indian OEM last year too.

Now, it's pushing into China, with a deal that should commence from the end of April 2012.

"We¹re thrilled to have successfully built this relationship with a leading Chinese manufacturer," said Simon Taylor, Synchronica's EVP for international biz dev.

"The size of this initial order illustrates the customer¹s eagerness in using Synchronica-powered messaging as a way of differentiating their products. We're already working closely together on developing innovative go to market strategies, and exploring ideas to further enhance our partnership."
