Symbian phones to support i-mode

NTT DoCoMo has expanded its i-mode supporting handset range to include Symbian phones.

The Japanese operator has launched software that enables Symbian and S60 devices to use i-mode services like e-mail, web browsing, i-appli Java-based downloads and the i-channel news-headline push service.

Bulgarian operator Globul has become the world's first i-mode network to sell handsets installed with the app. They are the Nokia 6120 classic, N73 Music Edition and E65. DoCoMo expects other i-mode operators around the world to also offer these handsets.

Series 60 software built on the Symbian OS is the world's leading mobile phone software. It’s developed by Nokia and licensed by other device manufacturers.
