Swedish TV broadcaster pickets Steve Jobs for iPhone app approval

"Please Steve, hurry up and approve our app..."

Most iPhone developers are content to tweet and blog about the App Store approval process, celebrating when their app goes live, and bitching mightily if it doesn't.

Swedish TV broadcaster SVT has taken a different approach, to say the least. It's sent a team to picket Apple HQ in Cupertino, begging CEO Steve Jobs to approve its mobile TV app.

They've even launched a dedicated website, DearSteveJobs.com, to highlight their campaign:

"We at SVT (the Swedish public service broadcaster) would like to ask you a favor. Below is a description of our SVT Play application. And to the right you can see all the Swedes who are eagerly awaiting its approval. So please Steve, hurry up and approve our app."

The website even has a big green button for Steve to record a video message giving his approval.

Will it work? Apple has sent a statement to TechCrunch pointing out that "The SVT app was just submitted for App Store approval today. We look forward to reviewing it as part of the normal review process..."

Still, you have to admire SVT's gumption in drumming up some publicity for its app. Which, by the way, looks very impressive judging by its preview video:
