Firm claims it can increase developer profits from four dollars up to $50 on 1,000 downloads.
Israel-based StartApp says it’s come up with an alternative to the two existing forms of monetisation available to Android developers: in-app ads and micro-payments.
Instead, it’s inviting developers to implement its own API – a bookmarked search engine will attach itself onto the home screen of any phone it's downloaded to.
StartApp will then generate revenue for every entry a user makes through the search engine.
For every 1000 downloads, a developer can earn between $10 to $50. That’s much higher than the average $4 that StartApp says most Android developers make.
And StartApp predicts that any developer that hits 1m downloads would generated between $10,000 and $50,000.

On its website StartApp says: "We know that most Android app developers aren't generating real revenue from their apps.
“Current monetisation options such as in-app ads and freemium result in a bad user experience and with no substantial revenue.
“We are striving to help these developers generate real revenue while improving the user experience of their end users."
