Square introduces $299 'Business in a Box' mobile payments kit

Will act as a full point of sale system to process payments and sales.

Square's mobile payments service allows businesses to accept transactions via smartphones and tablets, and the firm has developed it further by unveiling the Business in a Box. The kit claims to offer 'all the hardware you need to run Square on your counter,' and the will allow users to accept payments, track sales, share data, and more.

The package starts retailing at $299 and comes with two Square Readers (dongles), iPad stand, cash drawer, and receipt printer, while all items work with the app wirelessly.

Box has been launched to make payments easier for companies, preventing the need to buy miscellaneous components from different third parties.

Holly Pils of Texas-based Boopa’s Bagel Deli is a Square user and says: "We’re a neighbourhood business that has been in the community for more than 13 years and we need to make smart decisions so we can make great bagels for decades to come.

"My customers and employees love Square and it could not have been simpler or quicker to set up. Square has saved us time and money. It is truly a blessing."

The release is the most recent development from Square, following on from a scandal that saw its COO resign after sexual harassment complaints,
