Also adds support for Spotify URIs.
Spotify has released an updated version of its Android application, which now supports the Android 2.0 OS.
That means owners of the Motorola Droid handset will be able to use it. Well, in theory.
In practice, they still can't use it because the Droid is only available in the US, where Spotify has yet to launch. However, the device will soon be sold elsewhere in the world as the Motorola Milestone.
Still, there are other new features for users elsewhere in the world. The app now works with Spotify's URIs – direct links to albums and songs in the Spotify catalogue. Android users can open them from SMS, email, or Facebook and Twitter apps.
Meanwhile, there's also a new home screen widget to control Spotify from the Android home screen, and cover art swiping to match the iPhone version of the app.
