New features include Facebook and Last.fm tie-ins.
Spotify has announced that it has submitted an update of its iPhone app to Apple for approval, with several new features.
They include Last.fm scrobbling, and the ability to tap on Spotify links in iPhone's Safari browser or Facebook app, and open and play them in the Spotify app.
What's more, the new version will also be able to play tracks already stored on users' iPhones or iPod touches.
In other words, if they own songs, they won't have to put them in a playlist to listen to them through Spotify's app.
Users will also be able to save and find their favourite tracks and albums by starring them in the app, and there's also support for streaming songs at 96 kb/s, for when they're on slow connections.

The update will be live as soon as Apple approves it, so likely in the next week or two.
