But it will only be available to US iOS users at launch.
Spotify's music streaming service is only accessable for cross-platform use on desktops, mobile and other connected devices for a premium $9.99 monthly subscription.
However, the firm plans to launch a free radio service to existing iOS-powered Spotify apps in the US, as well as a standalone player.
This will take a firm swing at rival platform Pandora, which has two-thirds of its users accessing their accounts via mobiles.
The new venture will enable users to listen to random playback for artists of a similar nature – in the same way they would do on Spotify radio via PC – but they will be flooded with audio ads in exchange, an attempt to encourage subscriptions.
Charlie Hellman, Spotify's vice president of product, said: "We found those that use radio are really some of the most highly engaged users of Spotify. They stay longer and are more likely to upgrade."
