Music giant takes song streaming to the web and blogosphere.
Music streaming service Spotify has continued its latest interactive push with the launch of the Spotify Play Button, which follows on from the launch of 13 new apps and a partnership with Facebook.
Webmasters and bloggers will be able to add the music widget to their respective online offerings, which will upload songs, albums or playlists of their choosing via the Spotify developer site.
In turn, site visitors will be able to listen to the music collection that developers have added.
Gustav Söderström, chief product officer at Spotify, said: "Today we’re giving every blogger and web editor the ability to light up the internet with music. Adding a personalised soundtrack to your website or blog has never been this easy.
"You want to give your fans access to any song, album or playlist of your choosing and in its entirety, while ensuring people stay glued to your site. The Spotify Play Button does all of this for free, while making sure artists get paid for every play.”
Thus far, Tumblr, GQ UK, Vogue, MSN UK, NME and Rolling Stone have signed up.
