Sony Ericsson has recruited Spiderman to help it fight Samsung and LG in South Korea.
The Swedish/Japanese handset maker bundled the Spider-man 3 movie with its Xperia X1 smartphone, which launched in the famously vibrant but inaccessibly South Korean market today. The Xperia X1 is going on sale through SK Telecom, and includes support for Korea's home-grown WIPI mobile Internet platform. WIPI is one of the many factors that has prevented overseas vendors from making much headway in the country.
This could change soon, as the government will remove WIPI rules from April.
