PlayStation Network social features and news for 1.0 version.
That long-rumoured PlayStation Phone is expected to be unveiled sometime in the first quarter of 2011, but in the meantime Sony Computer Entertainment has other mobile ambitions.
Sony has announced the imminent release of an official PlayStation app for iPhone and Android.
Version 1.0 of the free app will let people connect to their PlayStation Network profile to view trophies and achievements.
Meanwhile, the app will also offer news about PS3, PSP and PS2 games and hardware, as well as blog posts from the European PlayStation Blog.
Initially, the app will only be available in the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands, with more countries to follow in a subsequent update.

"There are tons more features we are planning to bring to this app in the next few months," explains the European blog.
