Mobile publisher welcomes Sony's entry into the tablet market.

Gameloft has come out in support of Sony's new Android tablets, the Tablet S and Tablet P, promising to release a range of its 'HD' games for the devices.

Asphalt 6: Adrenaline HD, N.O.V.A. 2 - Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance HD, Real Soccer 2011 HD, Spider-Man: Total Mayhem HD, and Green Farm HD will all be available for the tablets as they go on sale in the coming quarter.

Here's what Gameloft SVP of publishing Gonzague de Vallois' has to say about the move in a statement:

"The convergence of high performance, a stunning display, and the focus on a networked device provided by Sony Tablet devices perfectly complements Gameloft's high quality games and online multiplayer functionality," he says. "The high impact of the Sony Tablet S' large display along with the unique dual screen configuration of the Sony Tablet P truly enhances the overall entertainment value of the gaming experience."

It's certainly a good marketing quote for Sony, but the serious point here is that games publishers are genuinely excited about the potential of Sony entering the tablet market, given its PlayStation games heritage. Publishers regularly complain about Android users' lack of interest in buying games, but hope Sony can rectify that.
