Could be the new 'watchman'.
AR tech is still in its infancy, and for the most part, it continues to be used for promotional and advertising options across mobile apps.
Google moved into the market in April, revealing Project Glass eyewear, a set of glasses that will provide the wearer with maps, weather forecasts, video calls and more, all in front of their eyes, all controlled with voice.
Now, PatentBolt reports Sony has secured a patent for 'optical communication glasses for work and play', which would put the firm in direct competition with Google.
The Sony specs are expected to feature 'light-emitting' tech, providing the device wit the ability to communicate with other gadgets such as mobile phones, headsets, or specialised watches.
The design is also set to sport a microphone, speakers, and camera, in a similar fashion to the Google rival.
