Sony Mobile has introduced the beta version of its new Xperia Lounge app to Google Play, which will offer users of its Android-powered Xperia smartphone line the opportunity to receive VIP treatment.

The new portal will offer exclusive content from the worlds of music, sports, films and gaming, providing competitions to win tickets to premieres, concerts and big matches.

The app is launching with exclusive Coldplay content and the chance to win tickets to the final Swedish House Mafia tour, while tickets to the World Cup and so on will roll out at a later date.

Stephan Croix, marketing director at Sony Mobile Communications, said: "The Xperia Lounge gives consumers access to unique entertainment experiences which only Sony can deliver. It is part of our wider mission to engage with consumers in a more intimate way by creating immersive experiences on their Xperia smartphone wherever they are."

Xperia Lounge will debut in 11 languages, including: English, French, German, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Portuguese and Indonesian.
