It's all Android at the smartphone end of SE's product range.
Sony Ericsson spokesman Aldo Liguori told BusinessWeek: “We have no plans for the time being to develop any new products to the Symbian Foundation standard or operating system.”
It's another blow for the Nokia-owned but open OS. Symbian was used by SE to power its Vivaz line of phones last year. But the firm had a bigger hit with the Android-powered Xperia range in 2010.
In the glory days, Symbian could count on SE, Motorola, Samsung and others to develop high end devices using Symbian. But now, despite the move to open source, the platform is really just a Nokia project.
Symbian v3 will get its first major showcase in a few days when Nokia ships its N8.
