Software AG buys Metismo

Business process software specialist strengthens its mobile play for enterprise customers.

UK-based Metismo was founded in July 2007 by John Chasey, who is one of the veterans of the UK mobile developer scene. He previously launched Iomo and sold it to Infospace.

Metismo's core product is Bedrock –  a write-once run-anywhere software platform that converts Java source code to native source code for different mobile platforms including iOS, Android, BlackBerry and Symbian.

It works across consumer and enterprise products, and with the corporate customer becoming ever more interested in mobile/tablet office apps you can see why Frankfurt-based Software AG made the swoop.

“This is a key technology in enabling the fully Digital Enterprise”, said Software CTO, Wolfram Jost.

“This transformation to the Digital Enterprise will be the major business challenge of the next decade. Companies have to react to rapidly changing markets and new market entrants.
