The Series A funding from August Capital will help Flingo to expand its social TV platform to 'every TV network in North America'.
Flingo’s Smart TV software is designed to be used in conjunction with actual big screen TV viewing.
It's a bit like Shazam in the sense that it can recognise what's on TV and then generate contextually relevant content directly to the viewer’s TV, laptop, tablet or smartphone. Inevitably, users can then share their viewing habits via Twitter and Facebook.
The apps integrate streaming video, advertising and broadcast TV and is currently available on 7.8 million screens, in 118 countries worldwide.
The new framework will soon be available on A+E Networks’ HISTORY and A&E channels.
