210m downloads down, the company is looking to push its business on.
Social mobile games publisher Storm8 is seeking a $300 million funding round that would value the company at $1 billion, according to TechCrunch, which tips VC firms Accel Partners and Technology Crossover Ventures as potential investors.
The company has generated more than 210 million downloads of its iOS and Android games, which include iMobsters and World War, as well as - through its TeamLava subsidiary - Restaurant Story, Bakery Story and other titles.
In July, Storm8 told VentureBeat that it had notched up more than five billion play sessions and 18 billion gameplay minutes across its games, and early in July generated $1 million of revenues in a single day for the first time.
The company's stats put it at the forefront of mobile social gaming, but with ever-increasing competition from Zynga, DeNA, EA and other companies, this may be a good time to raise a big funding round - especially if Storm8 is planning to make some developer acquisitions to bolster its roster.
Storm8 has prospered following a bumpy early period on the App Store. Its iPhone games were booted off Apple's store in November 2009 following a lawsuit that claimed the games harvested players' personal data without asking permission.
