SMS worm detected in smartphones

Security specialist F-Secure identifies the inappropriately named Sexy View virus.

Sexy View is a social engineering worm that employs the address book to spread itself. It sends a text message to contacts telling them to check out some pictures and a link to a website.

If they install the suggested application, the worm is embedded and the process repeats.

“Sexy View is important in many ways," Mikko Hypponen, F-Secure’s chief research officer said. "It is the first text message worm ever. It's also the first mobile phone worm that circumvents the signature checks that are meant to secure the latest smartphones."
