Orange France is now rolling out its SMS Jukebox across selected locations in France.
The service was originally announced last year at the Cannes Film Festival. After a pilot phase, it is now going live. The service enables customers in bars and clubs to choose a song from a menu on the table to be played at the location. Each song is designated a shortcode to which users send an SMS. The song is queued to play on the sound system.
SMS Jukebox is powered by the Israeli company YCD, which has already launched the service with Orange Israel. The system tracks the ordering status per location and generates activity reports in real-time. This helps the owner identify what type of music customers prefers and when the service is most popular.
