VoIP giant pulls plug due to sub-standard user experience
Skype has confirmed that Skype Lite and Skype for Windows Phones apps are no longer available for download.
In a post on its official blog Skype stressed that it wasn't a decision it took lightly, but that 'neither of the apps offered a great Skype experience'.
Skype has stressed, however, that anyone currently using Skype for Windows Phones or Skype Lite will be able to carry on doing so indefinitely.
It is unclear as to whether Skype will return to the Microsoft platform when next-gen Windows Phone 7 devices begin to appear later this year.
The company also used the post to draw attention to its Symbian app, which it says is compatible with 200 million devices.
