Skype has updated its iPhone app to support H.264 video, allowing users to make video calls to Skype-capable tellies.
Skype has released an update to its iPhone app that lets users video-call TVs. Well, some TVs.
"We’ve also taken a small, but significant step in terms of the technology our iPhone app uses: it now supports H.264," explains the official Skype blog.
"What does this mean in reality? That you can now use it to make video calls to the full range of Skype devices, including TVs from Panasonic and Samsung... For now, it’ll mean that you can make that video call to your grandmother from wherever you are."
Skype is also encouraging early buyers of the Verizon iPhone 4 to download its app this week, when their handsets arrive.
